What dorms are ethernet ready and which are not?

All dorms are ethernet ready.

Before you connect Via Ethernet you will need:

An Ethernet card installed in your computer. You may order one through a mail-order catalog (prices vary from $10 to $80 ). Washington College Tech Services has several models available. Ethernet cards for laptops are more expensive $40.

We recommend 3 Com brand. 10 Base T or 10/100 Base T.

IT IS BEST TO HAVE YOUR ETHERNET CARD INSTALLED BEFORE COMING TO CAMPUS! Although WC's Technical Services can install ethernet card for you, there is often a long waiting list and we cannot guarantee how soon they can get to you.

An Ethernet Cable - may come with the Ethernet Card. Also available at the Bookstore for around $12.00 or less, depending on length.

Directions for Ethernet Connection - Mac only:

Go to Apple, Control Panels. You will have either MacTCP or TCP/IP, but not both.

Click below on the one you have:

 MacTCP
 TCP/IP

These are MAC - ONLY directions. For Ethernet instructions for Windows 95/98,
