1. Do you have zones/connection to the Network?
2. Is your AppleTalk active?
3. Did you check you cables?
4. Do you have the correct zone selected in the chooser?
5. Do you have the correct zone selected in AppleTalk or Network?
6. Do you have the correct network configuration settings (Mac TCP or TCP/IP)?
7. Do you need to install Blitzmail?

Step 1: Do you have zones?

Select:

 Apple
 Chooser
Select Apple Share (top left box)
Are there 2 boxes on the left and one box on the right?
Does the bottom left box say "AppleTalk Zones" and have a long list of Campus Buildings?
If yes, you have zones and are connected to the WC network. Go to Step 4.
If no, go to step 2

Step 2: Is Apple Talk Active?

Select:

 Apple
 Chooser
 Look in lower right corner.

If no, continue to step 3.

Step 3: Check your cables. (LocalTalk/AppleTalk Connection)
Do you have the phone net connector (a box with two phone outlets on one side and a small cable on the other side)?
Is it plugged in properly on the back of the computer in the port with a printer image(!), not a telephone receiver image. If not, pull it out and put it into the printer port.
Do you see zones now? If so, go to Step 4.
If there are still no zones, then make sure the computer cable is plugged into the right wall jack. Usually it has an apple image on it or the word "Data" or "D". For more recently cabled buildings, the outlet is blue. Try all the different wall jacks you have, including the one the phone is using now. The phone will work even if it is plugged into the computer wall jack, but the computer won't work if it is plugged into the phone wall jack.
If zones still don't appear, try switching phone and computer cables. The computer cable needs four wires. The phone cable may only have two wires inside.
