First, you need to get a copy of the Windows version of Blitzmail. You can download the program from this site: ftp.washcoll.edu

IT'S BEST TO PRINT THESE DIRECTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING.

Note: In the directions below, do not include the quotation marks when you are typing.

Rightclick on the desktop and create a new folder called BlitzInstall. (Select New-Folder and name it BlitzInstall).

Click on the appropriate download link below. Most computers nowadays are Windows95/98. If you have the word "START" at the bottom left of your screen, then you have Windows 95/98. If your screen says Program Manager at the top, then you probably have Windows 3.11.

Download the Windows version

When the download starts, a box will open asking you where to save the file. Choose Save to Disk and browse to select the desktop folder named BlitzInstall that you just made. The file Blitz32.exe should be saved in the folder.
After the download is complete, open the desktop folder named BlitzInstall. Double click on the Blitz32 file. A black DOS box will appear and you get messages that files are being expanded and uncompressed.
Double click on the file "setup.exe." The BlitzMail program will then be installed. If it asks if you want BlitzMail to be your default email, click on "yes." When this finishes, there should be a BLitzMail icon on your desktop.
Do NOT Start Blitzmail yet. There is one file you must change first. Go to Start - Programs - Accessories - NotePad. The program NotePad should open.
Within NotePad, go to File - Open . Select the C: hard drive, then the Windows folder, then the Blitz folder that is inside the Windows folder.
At bottom of the dialogue box, change File Type from "*.txt "to "All Files."
Now a list of files should show up. Double click on the file Blitzconf.
A list of colleges with their configuration info should open. DELETE everything BEFORE the line with [Reed College]. Leave the [Reed College] info. Be sure there is no blank line at the top of the file.
Inside the brackets [ ], replace the word "Reed" with "Washington" so that the line reads [Washington College].
On the next line where it says "dnd.reed.edu" replace "reed" with "washcoll". Do not change anything else. Be sure you don't accidentally enter any spaces.
Save the file then close NotePad.
Now click on the BlitzMail icon and you're ready to go!
